The Bridge Theater. 1 Screen. Built in 1939. Operated by Landmark since 1991. Named after the Golden Gate bridge which was built two years before, it is one of San Francisco's most beloved single-screen movie palaces, featuring independent films and foreign language cinema since the 1950s. Landmark announces that the Bridge Theater will permanently close on 12/27/12. This is the 2nd movie theater venue that Landmark has closed in San Francisco during 2012. In 2010 Landmark planned to close the Clay Theater on Fillmore Street, but a deal was struck with the landlord to keep the historic movie house open. I'm hoping that if you're an independent movie lover like me who wants to continue to enjoy films in a classic neighborhood theater you will sign this petition. I am hoping to gather 1,000 signatures by 12/24/12 to urge Landmark to reconsider their decision. Sincerely, Lawrence Gordon
