Name: Jody Kelly on Feb 7, 2013Comments: Can't believe they are tearing down the church & school. Many memories there. Like others who have posted before me, these are historic landmarks in Southie which should be preserved. Southie don't need condos..that would only destroy the place. What's happening to all the Catholic churches, schools up there? Heard they tore down Cardinal Cushing as well. Had to go there to finish school after they closed St. Augustine years ago. Destroying these landmarks are a tragedy for the residents there now & in the past.Flag

Name: Patrick J Welch on Feb 8, 2013Comments: Such a beautiful old church, I was baptized received my first communion and conformation as well as 5 other family members. Also numerous weddings & funerals. It would be a real shame to destroy so many happy & sad memories, for the many parishioners who've attended St. Augustine's over the years. Please reconsider your decision! Save Sainties,,,,Flag

When my friend from India came over, he commented that India had a similar revolution and development story, but all of their historical sites were destroyed. This piece of history keeps us grounded in our roots.Flag

Name: Jessica Ahern on Feb 9, 2013Comments: My grandparents were married here in 1954. Their 7 children and 6 of their grandchildren were christened and reviewed first holy communion here. anyone who could get married at St. A's ( before it closed) did get married here. it has always been an integral part of community. if you wish to cash in on "Southie" keeping this building as aorigobal as possible is a smart investment!Flag
