Name: Ricky Cantwell on Jan 13, 2010Comments: this service is vital to serve the people on both sides of the river and should continue , why cant they transport say 1 car on each run to bring in income as it would in income and encourage more people to use it rather than the alternative of either the clyde tunnel or erskine nridgrFlag

Name: Andrew Dooner on Jan 13, 2010Comments: I think there is a need for this ferry but maybe to help increase passenger numbers it should take in the Braehead shopping complex. I know this has been talked about in the past and was supposed to happen but as usual nothing has happened.Flag

Name: Pauline Dolan on Jan 13, 2010Comments: This is a very valuable service and a life line to people who do not drive and work on the other side of the river. Time, money and effort would increase dramatically should this service be stopped. The Ferry is a big part of the history of Renfrew and a much appreciated service to those who do and such a shame to lose although not used to full potential it is a service that meets part of the community and closes a small part of the very wide gap across the water!Flag

Name: Margo Hughes on Jan 13, 2010Comments: I think its a terrible shame to talk about closing such a historic ferry. It was bad enough to close the motar ferry. Now to get to Yoker, one has to spend time driving in the tunnel a mixture of roadworks. The ferry is a good link to people from yoker to Braehead, also one of the other problems is the fact that a poor bus serevice is from the ferrry. Many a time Icrossed the ferry when it was on till quite late . Ihave used the ferry to get to yoker, rather than spend time on the subway or drive through bthe tunnellFlag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 14, 2010Comments: Again the faceless 'public servants' carry on with pointless and commercially unsound decisions that will not, under any circumstances, affect them, only the public they are allegedly employed to serve. An abstract concept? Did they commission an independant survey to find out how many people will have five or six extra miles added onto the journey to work? How many workers in the essential services, who usually work shifts beginning and/or ending at times when public transport is already appalling, will now have to give up their job? Are they so far removed from reality that they are prepared to undermine the infrastructure of communities and the country in an attempt to justify their huge salaries by pursuing bogus cost cutting exercises on services that only the poor and poorly paid use, in the hope that they, the voiceless minority, will just accept what they are told. Perhaps if they are looking to cut costs they should tackle the corruption, nepotism and apalling mismanagement of all the public services. Jobs for the boys? Commonwealth games? Where is the common wealth? When will Alex Salmond get his priorities right and have these local councils audited? Again, just another second rate career politician kissing the feet of international bankers. (not cockney rhyming slang). The Renfrew Ferry situation is a symptom of the rot and and not a single issue.Flag

Late at night when ferry was at Yoker side I used to shout to the ferry man and he would come over to collect me. I was so grateful because I already had a long walk from Paisley to Renfrew. It was worth it as I have been married for over 42 years now.Flag

Taking this service away could harm some peoples jobs as they would have a very long round about journey to get to Yoker side.Flag
