Save our Tennis Club! We, the undersigned, call on the Board of Governors to support the Packanack Lake Tennis club in its effort to rehabilitate itelf in the wake of Hurricane Irene. We are advised that the Board has recommended that the Tennis Club close 3 of its 6 clay courts most heavily damaged by Irene. We are also advised that the Officers of the Tennis Club have responded to that recommendation by advising the Board that the Tennhis Club cannot survive with only 3 clay courts, and will be forced, in the absence of a loan to repair the clay courts, to dissolve. We believe that the dissolution of the Tennis Club would be detrimental to the standard and tone of the community, the promotion of which is a core purpose of the parent Club. We note that the care and maintenance of the community's tennis courts is one of the express purposes set forth in the parent club's by-laws. And we believe that the Tennis Club through it's care and maintenance of the community's tennis courts, and payment of associated real estate taxes, for well over 60 years, should be supported in a time of need and allowed to rehabilitate its clay courts.
