BUT, Sad I feel that Kiwi Rail really don't care about us Locals who would use the services if they were kept open to us and Not Tourists like they are planning for it's future, YES, BRING back the Old Ways for us all to Travel by Rail again.Flag

Name: Lyn Edmonds on May 23, 2012Comments: My grandchildren regularly use the train from Auckland to Marton during the school holidays. They are students and airfares are exhorbitant; so they can only afford to come by train. I earnestly ask that the stations: Fielding and or Marton are kept plus Taihape especially.Flag

It is time they realize there is more to this country than Auckland and Christchurch so no way should these stops be stopped. Kiwi Rail will lose a lot of money as not many people will use this train anymore.Flag

Name: Deborah Birch on May 26, 2012Comments: I would like these stops retained. Trains are an important mode of transport and connectivity between small towns and provincial centres along the Overlander route. Cutting these out will restrict travel options, business activities, tourism and social connectivity for these towns and people living in them. It will discourage population, business and economic growth in the smaller centres. Cutting train stops is also saying to our domestic and international visitors and business partners that we see no value, potential or future in New Zealand beyond the major cities. It is telling our visitors not to bother visiting or stopping off at these little towns, there is nothing there worth seeing or spending your money on. Why would people living in NZ, visitors or business partners have confidence living, seeing or doing business with and in NZ, if we are seen to lack confidence in ourselves? Why risk the above, for the sake of saving a bit of travel time and a few bob?Flag
