Name: Kirsty Trice on Jan 27, 2013Comments: This place is somewhere relaxing and a refreshing change from all the other bars filled with louts. The people who spend time here have respect for one another. If this place is shut down it leaves me very little enthusiasm for the rest of town.Flag

Had a great night there. Alternative people need somewhere to go too and this little place is a proper little gem. Let it live!Flag

Name: Abraham Sharp on Jan 28, 2013Comments: Here's the text of the letter I wrote to maidenhead advertiser... Shame on RBWM council for trying to enforce a vision of what it thinks Maidenhead's nightlife scene 'ought to be' like in the face of what local people actually want. Their attempt to legislate the Shisha Garden on Queen Street out of existence represents a vision of communist centralised planning and control rather than the enablement of the clearly expressed wishes and needs of local people. The council says that it wants to encourage diversity and interest in the town centre's nightlife. Surely, then, quirky, imaginative, passionately run and law abiding businesses such as the Shisha Garden should be allowed to thrive, and not run out of business by the local bureacracy. This latest attempt to dictate what businesses are allowed to operate in the town has strong echoes of RBWM's failed attempt to reject Lidl's planning application for the derelict Stafferton Way site. In that case, common sense triumphed over dubious planning theory thanks to people making their views clearly known. I encourage everyone who wants to see Maidenhead Town Centre come back to life after dark as an alternative to the pricey clubs and bars of Windsor to tell the council that they will not stand for this heavy handed and slightly sinister approach to 'regenerating' the town centre. The best town centres are ones that have grown independently and organically, by allowing individual creativity to flourish.Flag
