I began playing brass at the age of 9 and now play in a local brass band. music is not my profession, but it is a jobby very dear to me and through which I meet a lot of people and entertain a lot of people. tuition in schools is vital.Flag

Name: David Whyte on Dec 1, 2012Comments: I know savings must be made in comparison to the spending of previous years but the sum to be saved here has such a disproportionate and long term detrimental effect on children s development, education and enjoyment that it is out of proportion to the money saved and the benefits derived. In the grand total o£34.9m to be saved this is a relatively small amount and could easily be found elsewhere,eg the continual and un necessary provision of endless new computers for staff which are not neededand the proper sale o fgood kitchen equipment from the closure of school kitchens which are being amalgamated.Flag

Name: Iain Lowry on Dec 1, 2012Comments: Kids need music as part of their education. School bands are put in place for these kids to learn further and to engage in fun and enjoyable experiences whilst learning. I went to a North Ayrshire school where the Music department was buzzing with loads of bands and ensembles after school. It made me want to progress and study at University level. If Stewarton school bands get cut, future musicians might never be found. Please keep the school bands running.Flag
