We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Education & Skills to sanction an additional Junior Infant class for Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré from September 2014 to enable parents to access Irish medium education for their children.

The Department of Education is refusing Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré in Sligo Town an additional Junior Infant class for the coming September which will mean that 29 children will not have a place in the school. Parental choice in respect of an Irish-medium education is being denied. We are appealing to the Department to review their decision and give these children the opportunity to attend the school of choice of their parents and to be taught in the only Gaelscoil in County Sligo.

ÉILÍMIDNE, A bhFUIL ÁR nAINMNEACHA LEIS SEO, ar an Roinn Oideachais & Scileanna rang breise Naíonán Sóisearach a cheadú do Ghaelscoil Chnoc na Ré do mhí Mheán Fómhair 2014 ionas go mbeidh sé ar chumas tuismitheoirí rochtain a fháil ar oideachas trí mheán na Gaeilge dá bpáistí.

Tá an Roinn Oideachais ag diúltú do Ghaelscoil Chnoc na Ré, i mBaile Shligigh, rang Naíonáin Sóisir breise don Mheán Fómhair romhainn a ghlacadh, diúltiú a chiallaíonn nach mbeidh áit ag 29 páistí sa scoil. Tá rogha na dtuismitheoirí i leith an oideachais trí mheán na Gaeilge á séanadh. Éilímid ón Roinn athbhreithniú a dhéanamh ar a gcinneadh seo, an deis freastal ar an scoil de rogha a dtuismitheoirí a thabhairt dona páistí agus oideachas trí mheán na Gaeilge a fháil dóibh i nGaelscoil Chnoc na Ré, an t-aon Ghaelscoil amháin i gContae Shligigh.
