Name: Isabelle Waine on Mar 12, 2012Comments: Some services might benefit from being located at the library, but council tax, rent, and services such as Citizens Advice need privacy. I think it would be disrespectful to council customers if library users are wandering past, and might overhear their problems. Also, what benefit would it be to those customers to have the services based in the library? If you have a problem that the council can assist with, you are focussed on that problem, not "I'm behind with my Council Tax and while I try and sort it, I'll get a book out". Shropshire Council say it is not a space issue, but it clearly is. Why not put all the council services in with CAB in the building where CAB is now? That way, all the relevant services would be together - a true one stop shop, and far more cost effective. My fear is that people will stop using the library if they fear that their children might be at risk, or that it might become an unattractive space for learning or research. It would be far better if they encouraged more people to use the library as a resource, say, with a cafe downstairs.Flag
