Last summer my daughter found a baby raccoon whose mom was killed.She brought him home to see if we could help the little fellow.Being an animal lover I said sure we can help as long as it's not against the law to have a raccoon in Ohio.Everything we saw online stated you were allowed to have a pet raccoon in Ohio.So needless to say Meeko is now almost a year old and very domesticated. He knows his name, is litter trained, loves to give kisses, swipe ponytails out of your hair and play in the bath tub.Now Jefferson County Ohio has given me 2 choices : 1. Train him to forage for food and then release him or: 2. Turn him over and allow him to be put down. My opinion is that he is a domestic pet now who in either option that i have been given will die.If released he will go and approach people because he was raised by people and looks at us as a means of food and play! So therefore if he approached someone who doesn't know him or his situation they will think he is rabid and shoot him. Wheres the fairness?? He's in a home provided with food,water toys,and care daily. Why take his life? Please help us save our pet and sign this petition!!!!
