Name: Lisa Brown on Jan 12, 2013Comments: I think that the Bakery needs to reconsider this decision seriously. I love the bakery, but I don't support this action at all and it will adversely affect their business and Loleta! There has to be other options, especially for a business that owns so much real estate in Loleta. Might not be as simple as pushing out the old and bringing in the new. How this flushes out will truly expose the bakery owners integrity and value to this small community and their interest in helping it.Flag

My husbands family used to live in Lolita and had a farm in the area, my point is it's a tradtion, we will not stop there just for the bakery. Sorry but we love the salami and sausages. My children will be severely disappointed...upon losing this family tradition.Flag

The action by Loleta Bakery is counter to this idea and they should reconsider their decision based on the response of the people whom they wish to serve ...or get their money from..., its hard to know how they view their customers or the community.Flag

Anyone that lives or has lived in Loleta will tell you that Pixie makes Loleta..Loleta. We would all hate to see her leave. Please have a heart and do not run her out of her shop. I understand that you are trying to expand your business there but besides our cheese factory you have already changed Loleta so much. We love our small town feel and would hate to see you take that from us. Pixie has to stay in her shop!Flag

Name: Adrian Jordan on Jan 12, 2013Comments: I have nothing against the Bakery, but Lolita Meat Market has been open for years. Pixi is a fantastic person. She greatly helps the less fortunate by allowing product to be bought on credit, doesn't charge an arm and a leg, and provides some of the best meat around. Closing hers hop would be a large mistake. Putting aside any personal elements, professionally you would be hard pressed to find better meat at a better price. Please keep the Lolita Meat Market open!Flag

Comments: I would rather see both businesses succeed and I think a sudden eviction with no discussion of other options or involvement of the community was a mistake, but it is not too late to change course and turn all of this energy in productive and beneficial manner.Flag -

It was a restaurant at one time. We would help them move there. There is room enough for two great businesses in Loleta!Flag

Name: Julie on Jan 12, 2013Comments: Expanding the bakery and taking out the meat market is wrong and if this happens a lot of people wont shop at the bakery either. If they have to drive to another town to go to the market. They might as well get baked goods there too. The bakery is doing well because the market is there. Ever heard the phrase YOU ARE GOING TO CUT OFF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOUR FACE? So that is what kind of people you are, the kind that will evict a family business. I will be surprised after this if simply not evicting this nice family will save yours, now that people know your lack of moral conviction and greed.Flag

Name: Joel Geck-Moeller on Jan 12, 2013Comments: Save the Market. I fled so cal nearly 40 years ago, depressed by the everpresent entrpeneurial ambition. Always the disregard for tradition and history. No one stopping ever to scrutinize the plan. "No foundation all the way down the line." I need the Loleta Meat Market to stay right where it is. Kegger, give em hell!Flag

Name: Krista Hanada on Jan 12, 2013Comments: I hear what you are saying about the need to expand your business to be viable, and I respect your needs as a business and building owner to do so. However that said, I truly believe that one of the key reason's that your business has grown and has had so much success is do to the popularity of the Loleta Meat Market and Pixie. In a community as small as Loleta and Humboldt County in general, putting out another business in order to grow yours seems not ONLY counter productive but also out of line with the basic values that so many Humboldtian's hold dear to their hearts, which is buy & shop local. People WANT to shop at BOTH establishments, not just one. I fear that evicting Pixie/ the Loleta Meat Market will actually cause your business irrevocably damage. This is definitely a case of “Catch 22!" The community loves Pixie AND the meat market, and I worry that your attempt to grow your business from its current location while forcing Pixie and the meat market out will actually have the opposite effect your were looking for. Truth be told, we want more businesses in Loleta, not less.Flag
