Name: Catherine Roulson on Dec 6, 2012Comments: I entirely support the petition as it is worded. Additionally, amongst the many flaws in the draft report, I have concerns that a major elective surgical centre based on the Lewisham site is doomed to failure as the report in no way mandates Guy's, King's or St Thomas' to make use of the facility and bases its estimates of throughput on elective orthopaedic centres which provide little teaching and training. Our suspicion is that such a centre would become an extremely expensive, half empty white elephant. Look at the eviddence of the Ravenscourt Park elective orthopaedic centre which shut down fairly rapidly as local trusts hung on to their elective work - more likely to happen now given the straitened circumstances of most trusts.Flag

Name: Dr S.R. Kottegoda on Dec 6, 2012Comments: Dear Prime minister If allowed to go ahead this move by the government will have far reaching consequences to other NHS institutions as well. Despite pointing out to the TSA the flaws of this plan the administrator seems hell bent on carrying on regardless and appears not prepared to listen to the frontline clinicians, GP's or the public on this matter. Please read all the petions sent by various groups both clinicians and public. Shame on this government to shut down a hospital performing extremely well. This is not a Democracy, but an excuse for one.Flag

Name: Dr Catherine ROE on Dec 6, 2012Comments: This is the most rediculous decision to have been made since my arrival in Lewisham as a GP 23 years ago. The hospital has never provided such a good service as it does today and the public at last really trust their local hospital. The population we work with are deprived and in many cases vulnerable, they need local services within their community. Lewisham GPs work well in partnership with the consultant team in the hospital to endeavour to reduce attendances at A+E and specialist referrals in order to make the much needed savings, this action will pull the rug from under all the very positive working that has been going on. We urge you to reconsider this plan.Flag

Name: Dr Sarah Watson on Dec 6, 2012Comments: I think we all worry about the effect of the quality of care for Lewisham's residents, and their ability to access A&E when required. I know one argument is only a 1/3 of A&E attendance result in admission... But we're will people go for e.g. Minor injuries, suturing, X-ray of fractures and ? C-spine injuries, I worry about the impact on the ambulance service. But there are many concerns about the closure of Lewisham A&E.Flag

Name: Dr Christine Scarsbrook on Dec 6, 2012Comments: Having worked in the maternity unit and met numerous parents who are delighted with their care, and seen parents of children who were considered 'low risk' pregnancies who have needed emergency c-sections, I believe that loss of any maternity services would be very detrimental to the people of Lewisham.Flag

Name: Dr Anton Fernando on Dec 7, 2012Comments: The proposal of the closures at the Lewisham University Hospital is without reason acceptable to any civilized society. There are many other avenues to think about stopping the collosal wastage of money in the Health Services and associated programmes.Flag

Name: Lee on Jan 10, 2013Comments: In 1998 I had had My Femar bone playing football honor Oak Park, An ambulance came and took me to Lewisham A&E where I had an operation and was in for two weeks and I recieved good treatment in the ward I was on, Larch ward. and Made good progress to recover, And I can now walk again as Normal. A&E IS AN inportant service that is needed daily, Wether there are road accidents, Stab wounds or shooting, Heart attacks or illnessess needing to be treated, If something does happen to someone and there is no near A&E to go to where people can be treated, Lifes Can be lost in the instance of having to travel to a further away hospital, As they may need to treated as soon as possible, I think it Is a wrong descission to close it at It saves some many lifes per year. I urge what I am saying to be taken in to consideration for everyone as anyone of Us is capable of having an accindent and may need round the clock, I strongly appeal again,st the descission of the A&EFlag

Name: Sarah Prime on Jan 12, 2013Comments: It's totally ridiculous and very dangerous to scale back services at a financially viable and successful hospital to "bail out" a failing one! How will the other hospitals accommodate our patients? There will be horrendous outcomes if this is allowed!!!Flag
