Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on the 4100 block of Melrose Avenue is considering closing their doors permanently in our city. This was caused by an electrical fire that occurred on Friday May 31, 2013 at 7:45 pm. The owner(s) are under the impression that the business will not thrive if they reopen in our fare valley. How could this be the case, when almost every Roanoker would be affected in some way if this were to happen

Businesses and people of our community depend on these donuts being made here at home. Grocery stores and convenient stores rely on these pastries to help produce revenue that is needed in order to survive in this economy. Not only will businesses be affected, but people like you and me as well. Our local recreational sports teams, schools, and churches count on Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to raise money for uniforms, equipment, staff and general functioning needs. If Krispy Kreme closes the site her in Roanoke, VA and we receive donuts from places like Northern Virginia and North Carolina, then that means they will replace jobs that are currently here. Even though our community still demands these tasty treats, we won’t supply them!

If that’s the case, then it’s time for us to make a stand and save those hot and fresh Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!!!!!!!!
