Help Save Kashkaval
After more than a decade of residing at 856 9th Avenue, Kashkaval is at risk of closing its doors for good. While our landlord – non-profit Clinton Housing Development Corporation – has been instrumental in the revitalization of our neighborhood, they have denied Kashkaval for lease renewal without reason.
Kashkaval has been in the community since 1998. We are good tenants, we pay a market rent on time, we pay 100% of the buildings real estate taxes, we employ more than 30 people (including low-income), our shop is successful and known locally and internationally, and both owners are long time Hell's Kitchen residents. Even with all of this, Kashkaval may close when our lease expires on September 30th, after over a year of trying to meet with Clinton Housing to discuss renewal.
We would like to publicly ask Clinton Housing for a chance to sit down with them, negotiate a new lease, and save Kashkaval. Please help spread the word on Facebook and Twitter using #SaveKashkaval, by signing our petition, and contacting Clinton Housing (212.967.1644) asking them to renew our lease.
