Comments: In the 1980s I stayed at Hull House, it is an experience every social worker should have an opportunity to experience. You can feel the spirit of change! This is a beacon of hope we need at this time of discouragement. It reminds us we can make a difference.

Comments: Save the Hull House social services agency--it is the living embodiment of Jane Addams' and her colleagues' work and a beacon of social justice and what democracy stands for. The Hull House museum without the social services agency operating to continue its ongoing mission may suggest devolution into another tourist draw for the city of Chicago.

Comments: I first visited Hull House the summer of 2011. I was so impressed with the depth and breadth of information contained in that one building. This was not just about Chicago, it was about our history and the early understanding of how to care for our fellow human beings. To lose this now would be an irrevocable loss to the social work community.

Comments: I teach a Social Work Education class in a doctoral program and we have spent a lot of time, unavoidably, on Hull House and the women of Hull House as we have discussed the historical foundation of social work education programs in America, and of social work education in HBCUs. The debt that social work education and the larger society owe to the seminal work and thinking of the women of Hull House is inestimable. Think of the many governmental social policies/laws that speak to social justice, that became a part of our reality as a result of the work and influence of the women at Hull House. One hopes that this institution, this iconic symbol can be saved.

Comments: Lets fight to keep Hull House. Social workers know the importance of this building and all that it stands for. It was the start of the movement we call social work, which started as the visiting teachers, etc. Let's fight to keep the memories alive, especially here in Chicago.
