After only 19 episodes, How not to live your life has been axed by the BBC. The Situation Comedy, written and staring comedian Dan Clark, has been a shimmer of hope that the Great British Sitcom might have been dragged into the 21st century. Only it wasn't to be- In a cruel twist of fate, the global recession has whipped the proverbial rug from under the feet of comedy fans everywhere. Some fans are completely outraged by the cancellation. "I am going on hunger strike until this comedy is recommissioned or until I am next hungry. Whichever comes first," One fan said(me). In a television landscape bombarded by tedious and unoriginal comedy, HNTLYL stands out as a genuinely well-written and fantasticly acted show.

I must point out that I am not affiliated with the BBC or with anyone involved in making HNTLYL. I am merely a fan of decent TV who cannot stand by any longer and just watch as the BBC make cuts in all the wrong places. I sympathise with the BBC Three controller and the difficult job he has in deciding where to lower the budget. I hope this petition makes it as far as his desk with thousands of signatures. It is entirely possible that he only need see the size of the fan base this show has. Perhaps it will help him to reverse his derision.
Open letter to BBC Three Controller, Zai Bennett
Dear Mr Bennet,
If you are reading this, it is because you genuinely care about the opinion of your stations' viewers. Now that you've come this far, I hope you will dig a little deeper and find the real number of viewers and fans of this show. Don't rely solely on the figures based on small sample audience. In October 2009, for example, HNTLYL ranked 14 in iPlayer viewing figures with 192,000. That is 13,000 more view than the long-time BBC comedy staple "Shooting Stars. Also, it only ranked 2 places below TV heavyweight "Top Gear".
It would be a travesty to let this show die after only 19 episodes.
If you cannot be swayed by public opinion then please commission one more episode and show it to a broad test audience. Interview them yourself, if it helps! World-wide, there is so much boring, uninspired Television. Can you not help make the BBC become the last beacon of creative light in a media landscape of dross?

Yours sincerely
