Please help us to correct an injustice and to right a wrong. As of Tuesday, Dec. 3rd, Mike Griebel was relieved of his head coaching position at HHS football. The only explanation given was that administration was going to "go a different direction". What direction might that be? Heritage High School students, players and their families deserve a better explanation. Coach Griebel has taught more than football to these boys. Coach Griebel has given valuable life lessons both on & off the field. Coach Griebel has been the face of Heritage and the Heritage football program for more than 30 years. Coach Griebel is a coach that goes beyond his responsibilities as a high school head coach. Coach Griebel builds fine young men with character who have come together as a team to play football to honor their school. That school is Heritage. Why would we want to "go a different direction"? We, the undersigned, implore the LPS Superintendent & LPS School Committee to reconsider the hastiness of the decision of the current HHS Administration to remove Coach Mike Griebel without due process. The negative effect on our student athletes and on the student body overall is what drives this petition.
