    Comments: The name of a team is a huge part of sport, not only to the team itself but also to everybody else. Your history and reputation is built up and based around your name and people recognise and support you because of it. It is understandable why the university would want to change the names of all of the au clubs; making them consistent. However, the problems this would cause not only for Loughborough Goldrush Cheerleaders but also for the many other clubs with renowned names are huge. Everything everyone has ever worked for will be lost and all the teams will be starting fresh, trying to rebuild their new name to the same standard. This isn't fair! If the people making these decisions were to come and talk to the teams, they would understand how much the name means. All of these teams work hard to keep Loughborough as champions in their sport. Not only on a university level but nationally too. Changing their names would damage the clubs reputation as well as the university.

    Comments: I was at Luff for four years and loved it so much because the uni always allowed the students to take charge- one of the reasons why I think we excelled in so many areas, so to take away the identity of a well-known and successful part of Loughborough University seems to go against everything I was taught when I was there recently. It seems very petty.

    Comments: I understand why the University are trying to create uniformity between all of their teams, however if they understood the Cheerleading World they would understand why 'the name' of a cheerleading team is so important. It's not just a name, it's an identity, a reputation and a history that everyone that has been part of Goldrush have worked so hard to create! Good luck, I hope the union listen to this petition!
