The parents of Fort Hunt Elementary School are seeking new leadership at the school in order to re-establish a positive and cohesive learning environment for all students, teachers, staff, and families.

Under the current Principal's leadership, Fort Hunt has experienced a change in climate which has resulted in a significant lack of support for both teachers and students.  This lack of support negatively impacts student performance and student learning opportunities.  Teachers are not supported professionally and therefore many talented and experienced teachers are choosing to leave Fort Hunt.

The parents believe new leadership at the school is absolutely necessary in order to:

* Regain a positive school environment focused on student learning and achievement;

* Re-establish a safe, calm, and caring environment for the children and staff;

* Retain and attract top teachers and support staff;

* Refocus on school and family collaboration in order to prevent the growing divisiveness between administration and the abundance of family support available at Fort Hunt.

The issues with current leadership have been significantly increasing to the point that families are no longer choosing to remain at (or attend) Fort Hunt, and valuable teachers are leaving after teaching at Fort Hunt for many years.  Families and staff are fed up and dissatisfied, and our children are the ones who ultimately are suffering the consequences.

There is a general sense of disconnect between the Principal and the students, staff, volunteers, and families.  It is not a warm, friendly environment when the Principal is present.  Volunteers do not feel welcome nor appreciated by current leadership.

Behavioral issues are on the rise.  Safety is a concern.  Staff morale is low.  The students are frequently exposed to administrative negativity.  The staff continues to work professionally and in the best interests of ALL students despite the lack of administrative support.  Teachers who attempt to go above and beyond are not supported and are actually blocked from doing so by the Principal.  The staff can only tolerate so much and thus Fort Hunt is losing many of our strong, talented, and experienced teachers.

Fort Hunt has been in a state of decline since the appointment of the current Principal.  It has come time to take action and bring new leadership to Fort Hunt in order to re-establish Fort Hunt as a child focused, staff supported, exemplary learning environment.

The signatures below show support for this effort, either for these reasons, or other reasons that individuals may have.
