Comments: How foolish the school and teachers are not to take advantage of this nationally known historic area! I'd rather have my 8 year taking field trips than doing worksheets in the classroom!

Comments: Not only did my child learn the history of this great experience. I also did (Never have been)!... I found my child would have never truly enjoyed the experience of learning the great history of this state without her teachers and fellow students. Nothing compares to the experience one gets learning with friends. I believe this is one field trip that is a must!

Comments: What an atrocity to not accommodate the entire third grade class to this much-anticipated field trip. Nothing replaces the experience of the Plymouth outing. Shame on those for taking this opportunity away from our young learners.

Comments: All of my children have been on the Plimoth Plantation/Mayflower II field trip, and in my opinion it is one of the richest educational experiences they had during elementary school. These vibrant "living museums" breath life into history as nothing else can. They are treasures, and no child raised in New England should miss visiting them!

Comments: It's a part of our history! It is a shame that they would even consider taking such a great learning experience away from a child.

Comments: Two days of off-site learning @ Plimoth Plantation and Museum of Science will not undermine the 178 days in the classroom, they will add another dimension and means of learning. Different kids learn different ways, and thands-on experiential learning is invaluable. I would be happy to help chaperone or fundraise for these trips.

Comments: I am very saddened to hear about this. I went on the Plimoth Plantation field trip last year and I would not like my 5-year-old daughter to miss out on this experience when she is in third grade. No classroom learning can replace this trip.

Comments: My daughter was in Ms, Snow's 3rd grade class last year and enjoyed that trip. She learned so much like how they lived and learned and what they did in the spare time. I think this trip is a great learning tool for the past, present and future 3rd grade classes.

Comments: My four children who all went through Florence Roche loved this field trip! It is silly to say that the kids cannot afford to be out of school for two days. They learn so much on these educational field trips and they need to get out of the classroom and experience this field trip.

Comments: This was a favorite field trip for my 3 kids and suited for what they are learning in the classroom. As a parent and chaperone take away something else. This is very worth while. We are fortunate to be reasonably close for the children to have this experience. Please reconsider!

Comments: It is very disappointing that most 3rd graders will miss this great opportunity to see hands on what life would have been like during this period. And especially disappointing to think that our educators believe this opportunity to be a waste of time.

Comments: My son, a current 3rd grader was very disappointed when we heard he would not be going on the Plymouth Plantation trip. I know it is not always possible to meet all the kids wishes, but I feel in this case the benefits they would get out of the trip would greatly enhance and support their unit on the Pilgrims. The fact that Mrs. Snows class is going has brought comments like "their class is lucky " and "I wish I was in her class".

Comments: Remember when you were in the third grade...do you think of days sitting in a room or do you recall field trips? It is ridiculous to say kids cannot afford to lose another day at school....It is a shame 'cause we know teachers and admin. are concerned about test performances. Kids will lose another day of exam cramming!

Comments: The trip is hands on, there are too few learning experiences like this now when most everything is geared towards MCAS scores. That Swallow Union students will still be allowed this experience, while Florence Roche will not, makes no sense - we should be finding more of these types of opportunities for the children. What do YOU remember more, your teacher explaining something to your class or a hands on learning experience witrh your classmates?
