We had a coffee morning for older community members and all the children came in to talk to them. wrong to make these people pay for bankers.Flag

Name: Steve Balshaw on Feb 5, 2013Comments: Shutting down libraries is not really much different to burning books. It's the act of philistine thugs. Ray Bradbury, one of America's greatest authors was entirely educated through access to libraries, and his novel FAHRENHEIT 451, a parable about how oppressive regimes control their populace through limiting the access to books, was actually written in a library. A society can be judged by the access its citizens have to education and to books. Every library that gets shut down "to save money" is a symbol of priorities gone seriously wrong.Flag

Name: Margaret Ireland on Feb 6, 2013Comments: Please do not close this very important local library. I have lived in Whalley Range for more than 40 years now. I moved here when my two sons were young. We used the library then and I am still a member now. I have also used the library for various groups that I have belonged to. What is a large city like Manchester coming to when it can't support a local libary for its rate payers. I thought we wanted to be an international city, not much chance when local people are not even catered for.Flag
