Name: Anonymous on Jan 29, 2013Comments: I am appalled at the threatened closure of Fallowfield Library. This is the hub of the Fallowfield community and there is little else in this disadvantaged area. Four years ago older people had stopped visiting the library due to anti social behaviour but now it is a safe haven for them, a place to meet their friends and enjoy activities to combat loneliness. Fallowfield Library MUST stay open for the sake of everyone in the community.Flag

Name: Tim Blackwell on Jan 29, 2013Comments: As well as taking books out here I took my older daughter to this library for toddler groups and I hoped to be able to do so with my new baby. I have also used the library myself in order to get peace for my studies in the past. This is a proposal to take a valuable community resource away from a large area which includes four wards and some deprived neighbourhoods. It will have a negative impact on the most vulnerable - children and the elderly have regular sessions at this library.Flag

Comments: Because libraries are not about books. They're about the people who use them and need them.Flag -

Comments: Dear All, Please support this petition to save Fallowfield Library! The Government should be ashamed to even suggest to close the ONLY cultural spot in the entire area! And all while moaning about the dropping standards of education and general culture! There are tens of groups using the library, hundreds, possibly thousands people, adults and children, who come here regularly - they won't find another place like this for miles around! And when the library closes down, guess how many of them will go looking for another place like this, where they will have to drive or take a bus (which never comes!)? So please sign the petition! Together we've a chance to keep our library open! Many thanks!Flag -

We use the Library building as it a convenient place to meet, and the room facilities offered are just right for what we need. We would urge the council to reconsider this decision, Many thanks.Flag

Name: Carolyn Leather on Feb 3, 2013Comments: I home educate my two children, and find libraries an invaluable source of support. Since quitting school in October 2011, my son aged 9 has become an avid reader, reading at least 3 lengthy novels and about 10 smaller books every week. There is no way we could afford to buy enough books to satisfy his appetite for reading. We also borrow more factual materials to support our more formal studies, and talking books for our daughter who is disabled and is not an independent reader. Please reconsider the closure of Fallowfield library, which is a such a valuable asset to its community. Fallowfield is not our local library, but we have attended drama classes which have been held there in the past for home educated children.Flag
