SAVE ERNIE'S is a preemptive online petition to give to the owners and employee's of Ernie's if they continue serious talks to sell. . Our goal is to show them that we value them as a landmark in this city and we would hate to see them fall by the wayside like so many good restaurants in the Roanoke. 
According to the Roanoke Times, Ernie's Bar and Grill is in talks with a restaurant owner who wants to buy the downtown Roanoke landmark out of its space, the owner of Ernie's said today.

Plans haven't been finalized, Aimee Simmons said.

"Right now it's just kind of up in the air," she said.

The owner of Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint, with a restaurant in Harrisonburg, approached Simmons about the Market Street space, Simmons said.

"They were searching downtown trying to find the right spot and they fell in love with Ernie's," she said.

The owner of Jack Brown's, Aaron Ludwig, was not immediately available. Jack Brown's serves burgers and 100 types of beer, according to its website.

Simmons said that she doesn't yet have a contract with Jack Brown's, nor have they exchanged money.

If talks fall through, Ernie's will remain open, Simmons said.

Ernie's has been open on the market since 1985.
