ATTENTION!

Cultural Fest as you know has always been the biggest Townsville event where ALL of us get together. As of this year, many PERFORMERS will not be performing for specific reasons, which might not be appropriate to say.

You may have seen the prices for the ENTRANCE fee have risen every year and this event was once FREE. The PERSON who BOUGHT Cultural Fest off the council is USING everyone who has been a part of the event for many years.

Just so YOU know, we PERFORMERS do NOT get PAID, we perform because WE WANT TO SHARE OUR CULTURE WITH YOU and WE DO IT FOR FREE. The people who have art, crafts and food stalls, ARE ALSO NOT PAID, they PAY at least $1,000 fee to put up their stall, this is out of THEIR money.

All the people in each stall spend THEIR OWN TIME cooking and creating items for all of you. SO..with the support of Townsville, there will a PETITION, while saying this, I myself, a performer of the Filipino Community and our group will not be performing, along with many other communities this year.

I SPEAK for all performers, and stall vendors of Cultural Fest. Many of us have been a part of this SINCE THE BEGINNING and it is NOT FAIR on YOUR BEHALF AND OURS that WE have to SPEND all OUR MONEY.

Cultural Fest is LOSING a lot of people and its’ DIGNITY about the TRUE SPIRIT OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY.
