Cookie is currently in the Bay County, Florida, Animal Shelter. Unless the owner files an appeal by August 9th, Cookie will be euthanized.

I have personally offered to meet with the owner at the shelter to assist him in the appeals process. There are many organizations that offer help with pit bulls. We need to let him know that he is not alone in this.

There is more to this story than we are being told. First of all, as much sorrow as I feel for the staff member, her life is more important than either of these animals. She should have called the poodle out of Cookie's pen. 

The liability for this incident falls on the shoulders of the vet that took Cookie in his shelter. The staff even states that there has never been a problem with Cookie in all of the times that he has stayed there.

There is no doubt whatever happens to Cookie, this office will be sued by the dog's owner and the staff member. He is required to carry insurance as well.

The owner is being told that he must meet certain standards to house Cookie and now would have to carry a Personal Liability Umbrella Policy (PLUP) through his insurance carrier.

Cookie is a well behaved dog as shown on the internet video of him in the shelter, while the other dogs are barking. Cookie is sitting calmly and never barks or becomes aggressive. It is as he is lost and afraid.

Bay County Sheriff's Department is investigating this incident and by law should not euthanize Cookie until the investigation is complete.
