Chatham University recently announced that this will be the last year for Water Polo at the school.  We feel this decision was unfortunately made without the following information:

- Like most student athletes, Chatham Water Polo players are deeply involved in student activities and perform well academically.  In 2010, the Water Polo team was ranked first in academic achievement in the ACWPA.
- Collegiate Water Polo is not common in East Coast colleges which gives Chatham another opportunity to differentiate itself from competing colleges and to attract talented students from around the country and the world.
- The largest expense for Water Polo is a pool, which Chatham already has for swim team and student use.  It may not meet "Olympic Standards" for Water Polo, but it is comparable to the pools used by most of the teams in our league, and acceptable for league play by all of them.
- With the recent addition of a new coach who has years of Water Polo experience, we feel this year could be the start of a winning tradition for Chatham University.

We respectfully request that the board reconsiders keeping Water Polo at Chatham.

Thank you,
