After reviewing all our camp locations, costs, profit/losses, etc., the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama has decided to close/sell 4 of our 6 camps. While their intentions are good, there is no need to sell/close Camp Coleman. Troops can afford to camp there and feel safe in their environment while they learn outdoor skills that they will use for the rest of their lives. Summer camp programs encourage girls to learn new things. Memories are made, new friendships are formed, and girls can be girls! These are traditional camps and need to be saved. Please sign this petition to save our camp. Thank you!
I love Camp Coleman & would love to see it brought back to it's former glory.
I can remember going to Camp Gertrude Coleman as a young girl in the mid/late 1950s. After I had daughters of my own, they spent some time there. One of me favorite memories is having Cook Outs over the Campfires - finding a suitable "cooking stick," skinning it enough for the hotdogs or biscuits to be cooked, then cooking & eating it. GOOD MEMORIES!
