Name: Muna Choudhury on Jan 7, 2013Comments: BLC has helped many of our client's particularly families who have experienced domestic abuse. If BLC closes this will increase the likelihood of homelessness amongst this client group and increase levels of child poverty experienced.Flag

Name: Eileen Schofield on Jan 7, 2013Comments: The Law Centre must remain open and therefore accessible to the most vulnerable members of our society. Law Firms are providing pro bono advice on a regular basis, that is provided in support of the the Law Centre and cannot be seen as an alternative. Birmingham, as the second largest city has an obligation to ensure that justice is accessible to all members of the City. Especially in the case of the Law Centre to those who can ill afford to ensure that the are not marginalised by being unable to have their voice heard in situations that are often distressing and life changing. I sincerely hope that the City Council can provide appropriate support to enable the Law Centre to remain viable.Flag

Name: Richard Grimes on Jan 7, 2013Comments: The interests of the Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham Law Centre are closely linked. It is important that the Law Centre continues to play its role in protecting Birmingham residents who otherwise may have no access to legal help. The forthcoming cuts to legal Aid make this even more imperative. In all other areas where there are law centres local authorities have provided a degree of core funding. It is now time for Birmingham City Council to do the same.Flag

Why Birmingham City Council has not seen fit to do so in the past baffles me.Flag
