On this magical evening here at the end of the road in one of the most beautiful unspoiled places on earth when I should be relaxing after another summer of sailing and more good memories. I hear news that breaks my heart.
Cork Country Council have Applied for planning permission to An Bord Pleanala to build a 400m breakwater across the middle of the harbour. The closing date for submissions regarding this planning application is on the 9th September at 17:30. If we don't stand up and fight for our harbour we could loose it forever, this is not just a development that will affect you and me but one that will affect our children and our children's children.

This plan has not been well thought through and will cause massive problems in the long run.

There is a much more suitable location for an all year round marina east of the lifeboat station where a small breakwater has already been constructed.

There have also been detailed plans for a segregated commercial/motor harbour between the north pier and bull point.

Baltimore needs shelter berths but dumping tens of thousands of truckloads of rubble into the harbour is no the answer and will destroy Baltimore's greatest natural resource forever.

Submissions can be made To An Bord Pleanala for a fee of €50

I will be making a submitting at my own cost. Anyone that would like to put there names to this submission can signs this petition.

If you would like to make your own submission details are below.
