Name: Gary Cunningham on Aug 30, 2002State:Country: UKComments: The ITV companies should definetly retain local continuity. Also, Carlton should reinstate the Central and Westcountry brands in full, leaving their own brand on London weekday. After all HTV is owned by Carlton and is still HTV. Granada should drop their purple genericism. Finally, God help us all (and ITV) if the proposed rebranding is anything like the night time presentation.Flag

Name: Mark Boulton on Aug 31, 2002State:Country: UKComments: Re-brand re-brand re-brand. Does it just mean graphics and music No, the people 'behind' the images (as in Central's heyday), and 'in front' of the continuity camera (such as Colin Weston, Charles Foster, etc. in Granada's heyday) are also integral 'branding tools'. Independent Television is dead. In a network that is no longer federal, perhaps the channel should be renamed "Channel 3" and all Carlton/Granada ITV licenses re-advertised to truly independent companies that are outside of the Carlton/Granada domains The fact that even REGIONAL announcements will be pre-recorded in London is just the last straw. ITV no longer know how to build a decent schedule, or announce their wares with confidence, enthusiasm and talent. That's not a reflection on the announcers, but those controlling them.Flag

Living in Anglia/London crossover I was extremely happy to be able to tune into Anglia via Sky Digital but with less regional identity will be a real loss to the whole ITV ideal Please reconsiderFlag

Name: Stuart Farrington on Sep 2, 2002State:Country: UKComments: I would like to see the contination of local branding on ITV as I consider it to be a part of the Networks heritage, I would hate to think that in the future we will see the "Carltonisation" of the remaining ITV regions!Flag

Name: Jeremy Greenaway on Sep 4, 2002State:Country: UKComments: I wholeheartedly support TCB in petitioning against this latest dumbing down of regional TV. Carlton has demolished everything those of us who worked in the original ITV franchise stations tried to establish. It leaves only the BBC to provide a truly regional service. Don't dump the messengers, string up the suits!Flag

Name: Gordon Radley on Sep 8, 2002State:Country: UKComments: It is sad that ITV1 is to dipense with the last of its hertitage. A major part of what for many years contibuted to its individuality and made it masses of money is to be thrown out. Up to now, the individual identities have been ITV's cheapest way of creating regional diversity. I understand economic pressures prevail, but in dispensing with regional identity, ITV1 is admitting that it is just another television station - one of many hundreds. I shall miss the stations which have had such a direct effect on my life.Flag
