Name: William Davidson on Dec 7, 2012Comments: it is just absurd that they are going to close one of the busiest courts in Scotland. How will any other court cope with the cases from Alloa, as well as the cases they have. it is even more ludicrous for this as alloa court has just been re-vampedFlag

Name: Moira Woods on Jan 14, 2013Comments: Alloa should retain it's own court, having to travel to Falkirk would be a big inconvenience to locals and may put people off reporting crimes if they had to travel outside of the county for a court appearance. It would also have a huge impact on case times, criminals would not be processed as quickly as they are now through the Alloa court, this will make lengthy delays in trial dates & sentencing.Flag

Name: Gavin Simpson on Jan 16, 2013Comments: I read with concern about the proposed closure of the Sheriff Court in Alloa. I am very aware of the valuable role the court plays in dealing with children referrals and feel strongly that the removal of this local facility will have an adverse impact on vulnerable parents and families living in the area.Flag

Name: Teresa McNally on Jan 21, 2013Comments: Court Venue Proposals I was deeply concerned to read in the local papers of the prospect that the Wee County will lose its own Sheriff Court. I’ve seen the disappearance from the town of the District Court and now Alloa Sheriff Court and the Justice of the Peace court is under threat. As a tax payer I support best use of the public purse but I am concerned that the impact of ‘co-locating’ this service being split between Stirling and Falkirk has not been properly thought through. There will be major repercussions on the ‘offenders’ who appear in court; on their families; on the witnesses required to appear at court cases and Clackmannanshire Council’s Criminal Justice staff who must present reports at court. All of this will have a financial impact on those individuals with extra cost of travelling. Plus the extra cost to the Council for cost of travel and time spent for staff who will be required to attend court cases. There will also be an added cost if ‘offenders’ fail to appear at court and the need for warrants to be issued with pursuance by court officials and police officers to apprehend those under a warrant. Scottish Court Service estimates a saving of £37,000; I certainly would challenge that figure. Surely the court process should be about local justice being metered out to those who break the law and that justice should be seen to be done by the community of Clackmannanshire within the county.Flag
