HELP SAVE ALICE!

Keep Waukee History Alive!

Whether you are a Waukee native or a Waukee transplant, one thing is for sure...history and the importance of preserving where you live and where you come from are important.

For those of us that were lucky to grow up in and around Waukee remember a small community deep with family roots extending many generations. We remember pulling into Olson's Gas Station and having Ron or Mac "filler up"! We remember going into Waukee Hardware Store to see Denny Langel who kindly always let me put my purchase on my Grandpa's account. We remember going into Broderick's Grocery Store for supplies. The boys remember becoming men when they got their hair cut with Jerry the Barber. And we ALL remember traveling out to the country to Alice's Spaghetti Land where you were always family at her tables and for one evening ate and felt what it was like to be a REAL Italian. Alice and the entire Nizzi family are an iconic piece of Waukee history that we all cherish.

We support growth and new opportunities for Waukee, but we also cherish and remember those that came before us and made us who we are today. Waukee was a small town where everyone knew your name or at least who your parents or grandparents were. Waukee was a town that rallied around it's residents and supported our rich history. Waukee was a town like no other....we are triangle....as we will always be too hip to be square. We will always remember where we came from and you can build on our land, but you will never remove our history.

We ask that you please take a moment and sign this petition not only because you may or may not have had the joy of going to Alice's, but because you understand the importance history and passing along to younger generations.

We ask that YOU let your word be HEARD and sign this today and share with your family, friends, alumni, neighbors and lovers of history. Keep Alice's Road for Alice as it will always be a "HOME" for so many of us.

PLEASE Share on Facebook, Email and Twitter. Please also go out and "LIKE" the Waukee Historical Society on Facebook. They are having a "Alice's Spaghetti Land Dinner Night" on April 27th!

Sincerely,

Amy Dolmage Keiderling - Proud 4th Generation Waukee Grad
