Comments: The fastest growing city in Canada needs an Ikea. There are none in Western Canada exept for Calgary. I am an hour from Saskatoon, and had to have my new Ikea kitchen sent from Montreal.

Comments: Saskatoon may not have a huge population, but given that it is centrally located in Saskatchewan, it would draw customers from all over the province. You can guarantee that since Saskatchewan residents will drive to Edmonton or Calgary to visit IKEA, they will definitely drive to Saskatoon for the same reason. Many people already drive to Saskatoon to do a lot of their purchasing and adding IKEA to the area would only increase this activity.

Comments: I just spent $1000 dollars at IKEA in Edmonton last weekend (Sept 28-30), 2007. If I'm willing to drive all the way to Edmonton to spend that kind of money, imagine the ROI og thousands of us willing to do the same.

Comments: This only makes sense as Ikea would cover the whole province of Saskatchewan and not just a single city such as the edmonton or calgary locations obtain.

Comments: Saskatoon is an ideal location for an IKEA store serving the central Canadian Prairies. Although at first glance the city appears to be too small according to IKEA's requirements, its metropolitan population combined with its proximity to customers accustomed to travelling from surrounding towns and cities make it worth a second look. Cities such as Prince Albert, the Battlefords, Melfort, Humboldt and larger towns such as Warman and Martensville are all within a 1.5 hour drive. The provincial capital, Regina, and nearby Moose Jaw are within 2.5 hours. These towns and cities combined with Saskatoon's population offer a customer base well in excess of a half-million people. All are linked by well-travelled highways, utilized by a population accustomed to driving such distances as a day trip for shopping, business and recreation. Saskatoon is centrally located in the prairies, well-positioned to service customers throughout not only Saskatchewan but also Manitoba. The country's largest value-added food manufacturer, Maple Leaf Foods, certainly thinks so, since it is currently building the company's largest distribution centre in Saskatoon to supply its customers throughout the Prairies, Eastern BC, and Northern Ontario. I hope IKEA will consider Saskatoon for its next Canadian location.
