SUPPORT A RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR MULTIFAMILY PROPERTIES IN SAN MARCOS, TEXAS Dear Mayor and Council members, The current initiative for implementing a recycling program for multifamily properties is a historic step forward towards reducing the City of San Marcos’ environmental impact. San Marcos’ residents want a comprehensive recycling program that will reduce the amount of valuable resources going to the landfill. Recycling saves energy, promotes clean air and water, and indirectly creates more jobs in the region. It is estimated that as much as 60 percent of the U.S. household waste could be recycled and with over 65 percent of residents living in multifamily properties in San Marcos, a lot of resources are being wasted. In today’s economy and environmental situation filling up a landfill that is out of sight is no longer an option. Now is the time to expand recycling to include the rest of the San Marcos citizens as part of a comprehensive waste management program and move our city in the right direction towards achieving Zero Waste in the future. The time to bring recycling to multifamily properties in San Marcos is now. _____________________________________________________________________ PLEASE READ: After you click on "Sign Petition" you will be taken to another page where iPetitions asks for a donation.
