The Sandlick/Bigbend area is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest outside Slade, KY. It has been open to highway legal vehicle use for decades. Currently the area is designated open to highway legal vehicles by the United States Forest Service (USFS) but it is not an "official" Trail System eligible for grants and funding . The USFS is about to propose an action in the area that may adversely affect vehicular access. The area is in need of "official" Trail System Status in order to gain proper funding, management, and stewardship in order to continue to provide vehicular access to the beautiful scenery while allowing users to gain a wilderness experience in an environmentally sound and sustainable way. Signing this petition simply means you support the development of an "official" Vehicular Trail System. An "official" vehicular Trail System system would result in eligibility for funding/grants, a positive impact to the local economies, and focused efforts on sustainable use of the public forest.
