Restoration of The Sand Pebbles Motion Picture

This petition will be discontinued once Twentieth Century Fox releases the 2-disc \"Special Edition\" DVD set of \"The Sand Pebbles\" on June 5, 2007. The complete Roadshow version (195 minutes) of the Sand Pebbles will be part of the 2-disc set. Fans of \"The Sand Pebbles\" have identified at least 13 scenes that were edited out of the 1966 premiere roadshow version. Restoration of these scenes were deemed critical with regard to the physical aging (and possible degradation) of the existing film elements necessary to accomplish this task. In addition to the historical importance of the missing scenes, restoring these scenes allows for better continuity and faithfulness to the script and to the novel on which the movie is based. The Sand Pebbles motion picture was honored with 8 Academy Award nominations and celebrated its 40th Anniversary in December 2006. For more information on the missing scenes, please visit The Sand Pebbles Website on the provided links. All petition signer email addresses will remain confidential and available only to the TSP webmaster and 20th Century Fox Studios. I wish to thank all of the signers of the original petition for their support.
