Name: Rebecca Schweigert on Nov 29, 2010Comments: Although I would not be directly effected by this change, it sets a dangerous precedence for rural post offices. This appears to be a "penny wise & pound foolish" decision. It may save a few dollars for the USPS, but it creates another unfunded expense for rural residents. In the long run it could also decrease revenues from these residents, as they may take their postal business to other offices or rely on private carriers.Flag

Name: Joseph F. Laubacker on Nov 29, 2010Comments: With NCCC nearby, as well as all the residents nad businesses, I find elimination of this Post Office location a poor move as the Niagara Falls location is 10 miles away to the west and Lockport is as far to the east.Flag

Name: Dennis Lederhouse on Nov 29, 2010Comments: I realize that the US Postal Service is trying to save money however it would make more sense to eliminate Saturday delivery of mail than close down a vital post office. I can wait until Monday for delivery of catalogs and other junk mail that I usually receive on Saturday.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 29, 2010Comments: This is about as ill-conceived as they come. It's a major inconvenience to anyone who A. doesn't have the transportaion to get to the propsed new location and then delivery times will be irregular and B. isn't necessary espeically if the branch slated to be closed is profitable.Flag

Name: James Klimek on Nov 30, 2010Comments: The Sanborn post office is a vital requirement for near by businesses and residential home owners. Closing this office would be a hinderence to those businesses and residences. Many of the customers this post office services are from nearby towns and cities such as Wheatfield and N. Tonawanda. It's easier to access and the service is much more efficient.Flag

Name: Bud Stevens on Nov 30, 2010Comments: As stated in the petition, we are a fast growing area and we are one of the few self-supporting post offices in this area. Why should our residents, some of whom are seniors have to drive to a very congested area 10 miles away to try to retrieve their mail and packages?Flag

Name: Marlene H. Stevens on Nov 30, 2010Comments: Our post office has always been noted for outstanding service in a rapidly growing area. Our Sanborn area is home to Niagara County Community College which has of late added a 400 person dormitory. We also have Niagara County Boces and Niagara Wheatfield School District both of which are also constantly growing. Our general area's population is increasing and the historical society has been promoting the history of this area which has caused many new businesses to settle in this area. It is unfair to ask our citizens to drive 10 miles to a congested area of LaSalle to retrieve our mail. Many days in winter we will not even be able to get our mail. Additionally loss of jobs in our area would not be a good thing with the economy the way it is. We need to keep every job we have here in Sanborn as our post office is self supporting.Flag
