The train horns sounded at the rail crossing in San Marco are disrupting the quality of life in our historic neighborhood. The increasing use of the rail has led to train horns being sounded day and night interrupting sleep, lowering home values and negatively affecting the quality of life. We are petitioning the Jacksonville City Council to establish a quiet zone as allowed by the Federal Railroad Administration by installing alternative safety devices.

The Jacksonville City Council thinks they can ignore our sleep-deprived neighborhood while those trains blare through the night. We are about to hit one hundred signatures so push this link to your neighbors right now to force their hand.

The train whistles at 4 am are absolute excessive and loud, even a half mile away. This isn’t my complaint for no reason. Such starting noises in the middle of the night trigger PTSD and the there is no more sleep to be had. I fell right out of bed the first night I spent in out new house in San Marco.
seems egregiously loud and prolonged. San Marco is a nice, family neighborhood - we'd rather acquire the proper equipment to make the crossings safe vs listening to that train horn/whistle. thanks.
For the peace & quiet of residents by these 9 crossings, and for the economic viability of adjacent businesses, a San Marco wide quiet zone would be a valuable boon to our community.
At night in particular, the excessively long train whistles are very disruptive to our sleep, because the sound reverberates off the water and buildings downtown. At a time when , at long last, Downtown living is becoming a focus and goal of this city, a quiet zone will be a huge asset!
We have resided in our home since 1969. We were the youngest couple on the block and now the oldest! We have tried for years to have this noise stopped with no avail. Thank goodness someone else is helping and we all appreciate the effort! Thank You!
Number of trains are increasing at night and horns are becoming unbearable.
Lets work together to pass this and put a reasonable restraint on this nighttime noise. Time is NOW. For our kids, for our zz's, its bedtime please! "Hush the Horn!"

Train horns could impact apartment tenancy in the new developments at Nira Street and Philips Highway. Eliminating train horns could really enhance the quality of life (and sleep) of residents, and enhance economic development in San Marco. Thank you!
