Samsung finally admitted the cell standby reading is a software bug and promised a patch. This confirms that these numbers were just a display error all along. Post a screenshot of your updated battery stats to the forum once the fix lands so we can confirm the readout is accurate.

Samsung are not recognising that there is an issue with cell standby on the Galaxy S3.

Everyone who has high cellstandby battery usage, please sign so we can send them a list that proves it is widespread.

We need to know if this is a reporting error or if the baseband really is using this much battey. Battery life in general is good so it does point to a reporting error

----EDIT------

To clarify, this is not causing your battery to run down faster. This is just a reporting of the % of use incorrectly. Fixing this will not cause the phone to last longer. Please understand this. If your battery is running down fast, then you need to use a 3rd party app to find out what is using the power. The battery page wont help as it says its cell standby, but that is wrong.

Samsung won't acknowlege any problem with sg3 when I contacted them directly. Their non-support will be a factor in my next cell phone/tablet purchase. Samsung is among the least likely brands I will consider. Time to reconsider non-android alternatives?

Cell standby and device idle drain all the battery from my Samsung galaxy note 3. Cell standby takes as much as 56-60% of my battery.

Mine shows 48 percent cell standby constantly. It is super annoying and samsung needs to just push the patch already instead of ignoring us.
