Petty Officer Janaye Ervin protested by not saluting the American flag. This is unacceptable behavior by a member of the armed forces, and directly relates to military discipline, which is the very foundation of an effective fighting force.
There are numerous other ways in which she could have protested, while honoring her commitment of service, and maintaining the appropriate distance from the Navy.
We the undersigned hereby petition the Department of Defense to discipline Petty Officer Ervin according to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and warn her that further protestations will result in a dishonorable discharge.

There are rules that she broke, and she wants to be treated as a equal. Then that means she gets stripped of everything and dishonorable discharged. Plain and simple.
An American serviceman not saluting the American flag is beyond despicable. Apparently her oath to defend it is worthless. I would not want her anywhere near me in a battle...her action in this regard tells me she certainly would not have my back. What the heck is she even in the service for?
She is military. She needs to have the upmost respect for the nation and its icons.
She must be disciplined or else be dishonorably discharged for disrespecting the flag of the country she has sworn to honor and defend.
Is keel hauling still a legal punishment per Navy regulations??

I served in the US Navy. If the command is unwilling to discipline for such disrespect then they too are disrespecting the very people they are sworn to serve.
