Why not have one in Salisbury, it would surely be a focal point in the park for something other than alcohol drinking youngsters!! What a fantastic opportunity for the local authorities to show the good natured tax payers that their money is spent on something other than clearing up after the drunken kids that actually pay no tax!!Flag

Name: Rob Priestley on Mar 22, 2008Comments: As Director of SAYM, I fully support this petition. It would be great to have a bandstand in the heart of Salisbury that many bands could use. As a major tourist destination, it is an asset the city should have.Flag

Name: Nigel Preece on Mar 23, 2008Comments: Any city like Salisbury, worth its salt, should have a municipal bandstand, situated prominently in the city centre in a way that makes it a focal point for locals and visitors. It would also be a terrific way of showcasing the young musicians in Salisbury. A group of people that, having attended SAYM concerts in the past, I know to be rich in energy, enthusiasm, talent and creativity. It would be no more than the SAYM and indeed any visiting musicians, deserve! This can be done, because in the town where my father grew up, Walsall, and the suburb of Palfrey to be pecise, an old Bandstand was recently restored. So come on local officialdom, spend the council tax payers money on something that ALL Salisburyans would appreciate.Flag

Name: Sam Reed on Apr 25, 2008Comments: i have played manytimes in banstands and think they are a very nice place to play in, and the best part is even when it rains we (the band) dont get wet. i have played many times outside of marks and spencers in the old george mall and it rained we then had to stop playing and so no one could here us play anymore so then we didnt recieve any further donations to the band. if we had a banstand i can guarantee bands will use it and play in it, we have many amazing bands in the area, brass bands (shrewton downton and woodfalls) the jazz band thats run in salisbury ad of course it will give us SAYM members experiance of playing infront of people in groups in an informal way.Flag
