When members of the Salisbury Area Young Musicians (SAYM) jazz groups visited and played in Valkenburg in The Netherlands, they were able to make use of the local town bandstand. The bandstand provided a perfect place for the young musicians to perform and entertain the local people. They are a great way of providing a simple stage for performers, and generating a casual or specific audience. The concept of the bandstand in this country originated in Victorian times, but it may surprise you to know that they are still being made and erected even in the present day. They provide good acoustics, shelter from the rain (or sun!), and provide an ornamental focal point for the environment. Wouldnt it be nice if Salisbury had a bandstand in the heart of the City (Not in Victoria Park!!!) A place where not only SAYM could entertain, but other local or visiting groups as well. At SAYM, we would love to take our music to the people more often - we would really like a bandstand. Will you support us
