Name: Meredith A. Reardon on Aug 9, 2011Comments: I have lived on the Salem Harbor side of Marblehead most of my life. My father died of lung cancer, my mother has some undefined respiratory condition, and I recently developed Asthma at 56 years of age. I do believe that the elevated cancer rate in this area is due to the Salem Power Plant. It is time to close that thing for health reasons and make Salem the beautiful place it should be with a waterfront where boats can visit from all over the world.Flag

Name: Shirley Huller White on Aug 14, 2011Comments: I recently accepted a teaching position in nearby Marblehead, and moved to Salem from Arlington, MA. I immediately noticed a difference in the air quality. I am happy to see the Salem Harbor Power Plant is scheduled to close, and it should be shut down immediately. Is the health of our children really worth the taxes received from Dominion? Immediate closure will hasten the clean-up and green development of the site, which will save lives and ultimately be more valuable and sustainable, far surpassing the taxes paid out by Dominion.Flag

Name: Linda C Vallis on Jan 1, 2012Comments: My husband was born in Salem. My son now lives in Salem. We love the city of Salem. We walk in the North Shore Cancer Center Walk every year, but seeing the black smoke billowing from the giant exhaust pipes into the beautiful blue sky is not only disturbing but also frightening for the surrounding neighborhoods and anyone who would like to enjoy walking the beautiful landscape. The city of Salem has so much to offer with its great historical significance and close proximity to the ocean and Boston. The black smoke that rises from the huge stacks into the beautiful blue sky is not only disturbing but very frightening to anyone who might want to take a walk to enjoy the scenery of this great city. Please close the Salem Harbor Power Plant and preserve our environment for us and for future generations.Flag
