This is a petition for The Sage Colleges to fund access for alumni to research databases.

There are educational goals clearly written in the Mission Statements of varying departments to teach students to apply research and evidence based practice in their careers. The Sage Colleges preach life long learning but deny access to research databases after graduation. This denial tremendously hampers life long learning.

In April 2012, Lucile Rosenfield Shea left 9 million dollars in her will for a new campus library. This is a substantial fund sufficient to cover the cost of alumni access to databases. Part of this fund should be used to purchase alumni specific access offered through databases such as EBSCO, JSTOR, or ProQuest.

Many other colleges and universities already provide access for alumni. The time is now for The Sage Colleges to provide access. Alumni access to research supports the goals in The Sage Colleges' Mission Statements. Discontinued access does not. The Sage Colleges should uphold their educational philosophies and promises to students.

Please sign to show your support for the funding of alumni access to research databases.

 Thank you.
