Name: Cristy L. Christensen on Dec 4, 2012Comments: It has been my understanding that hunting in Wisconsin State Parks would not occur within 100 yards of other recreational activities. When you think about it, how is it realistically possible when all trails are open for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, camping, and all other family park activities. These non-hunting activities CAN and WILL occur on the same trails and woods side by side with hunting . The idea that hunting in State Parks will occur 100 yards from other recreation is a fallacy. Should ACT 168 be enforced in its present state, the division between hunter and non-hunter will grow deeper. My other concern with ACT 168 is that should an accident or death occur from a hunting accident in a State Park, the victim and family pay the ultimate price. But that's not the end of it. The taxpayers, the DNR, and the Government will pay the costly and lengthy lawsuits that are sure to arise. The method in which Act 168 was written and implemented are reprehensible..Flag

Name: Anonymous on Dec 4, 2012Comments: I am opposed to hunting in Wisconsin's State Parks - at anytime of the year, but especially during April and May when migrating birds are present and many citizens interested in seeing them wish to use the parks without being concerned over shooting occurring while they are in the parks.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Dec 4, 2012Comments: I use the state parks year-round and think of them as a sanctuary where I can hike, snowshoe, ski, walk and run anywhere in the park without worrying about bullets or traps. If this goes through, I will look for alternative places to enjoy my silent sports. I don't want to worry about getting caught in a trap or having to listen to a wounded animal dying in a trap.Flag

Name: Jenny Hayes on Dec 4, 2012Comments: I enjoy snow-shoeing and often walk off-trail. There really isn't any area in a state park that is 'designated use' for snow-shoeing and therefore trapping and hunting is not safe. This ruling was not well thought-out for the safety of everyone who enjoys the parks.Flag

People of all ages use these beautiful state parks year-round, and they deserve to do so safely.Flag

Name: Shelley Selle on Dec 5, 2012Comments: If this bill goes into effect, I will likely not purchase state park and trail passes as I have in the past. If there is a hunting season in the park, it should be much shorter, i.e. Dec-Feb. Hunting and trapping do not mix well with hiking, horseback riding, skiing, and other quiet pursuits. State parks and trails are some of the last havens where people can enjoy the peace of nature.Flag
