Name: Carol A. Schmidt on Nov 29, 2012Comments: Please reconsider Act 168. I think safety overall is a big issue with all our parks that are in high tourist areas. Families are not going to come to any of our state parks if it's not safe for the children. Epecially when we won't even know how many hunters are in a given area.Flag

Name: Jim Richards on Nov 29, 2012Comments: Look at the specific maps for each state park -- hunting will be prohibited only near major trails and camping areas. Non-hunters will be prohibited from hiking, cross-coutry skiing, snowboarding, birdwatching, etc. on the vast majority of the trails for 7 months/year. Surely the hunters can shoot all the deer they need in less than 7 months and leave some more time for others to use the parks. Hunters have previously been OK with seasons counted in days, not months. Why this?Flag

Name: Richard Storm on Nov 30, 2012Comments: This Law is without a doubt a NO-WIN situation. I find it very difficult why anyone would even consider such a Law. Not only will this deter both recreational users of the State Parks, but also a very large number of hunters. Its about time people enacting such a law use a degree of common sense.Flag

Name: Kay Panicucci on Nov 30, 2012Comments: Please think twice about this bill. My family and I love the state parks and use them frequently. We love to bike, hike, bird watch, ski, and snowshoe in the parks and state trails. We feel very threatened by the fact that there may be hunters out there when we would like to use them. It feels like a terrible accident ready to happen.Flag

Name: Dennis Panicucci on Nov 30, 2012Comments: This bill frightens the heck out of me. I am a birder who does several Christmas Bird Counts each year as well as several winter bird surveys for various organizations. We can not wear blaze orange because it scares the birds away. My wife and I also like to cross country ski and snowshoe usually in our state parks. Last year Jan. we were out snowshoeing on the Ice Age Trail near our home when a hunter come out of nowhere and was standing beside us. He said he almost shot us by mistake and that we shouldn't be out there during the hunting season. Not being hunters we did not know when the seasons were. And we certainly did not expect to run across anyone hunting on a popular hiking trail, such as the Ice age Trail.Flag

Name: Mr. Lee Scharpf on Nov 30, 2012Comments: Hikers, who go off trail near a pond, could possibly get caught in traps. Hikers could get hit by a stray bullet/arrow. Hunting and trapping in a park is totally unnecessary. It could decrease attendance at our parks, and consequently decrease revenue from park stickers.Flag

Name: Britt Maltby on Dec 1, 2012Comments: I am from a family with 2 hunters that love the sport. However, I feel that hunting in the State Parks is absolutely crazy. It is terrible for tourism through-out our state. You can establish boundaries with it, but it doesn't matter. No one wants to take a risk, especially when they have children with them.Flag
