We the undersigned, users of the Owego Turnpike W and Belmont Street, Waymart, AKA Route 296 S are bringing to the attention of Waymart Board of Supervisors, a serious, potentional, unsafe and dangerous situation. We are concerned for the safety of drivers and passengers using the Owego Turnpike (W) and Belmont Street, Waymart, AKA Route 296 (S). When stopped at the posted Stop sign at the corner of the Owego Turnpike (W) and Belmont Street, Waymart, AKA Route 296 (S), the driver of the vehicle cannot see oncoming traffic because of an obstuctive view. The driver cannot safely enter this intersection for a clear view until an oncoming vehicle is within striking distance. This has caused a safety concern for both the driver entering the intersection and the oncoming vehicle, who may not be able to stop or has to vere so severely that he ends up in the path of Route 296 (N) or in the case of a large truck, possibly, tipping over. Because of these unsafe conditions, we are asking the Board to forward this petition to the appropriate department that can correct this matter.
