Dear Mayor Nenshi, It's time Calgary implemented a game-plan to deal with public transportation in our city. Summer or winter, night or day, taxi cabs are not available, nor are there late night public transit options available such as buses and C-Trains. It's not safe for several reasons - among them increased instances of drinking and driving, and leaving individuals stranded in isolated areas while trying to find a way home from work, or a night out. Our elderly, disadvantaged, and disabled citizens are often left helpless with no means of getting groceries or getting to doctor's apointments. Local businesses suffer during the winter months as fewer people venture out because they know there is no feasible way to get home. Implementing a strategy to hire more public transit drivers, extend public transit hours, and put more taxis on the road would be a huge boon to the citizens of Calgary and is long overdue.
