Medicare coverage for SafeSlideBoard

SafeSlideBoard is a replacement wheelchair armrest that lowers as a transfer board. Unlike standard transfer boards that slide away from the wheelchair and cause falls, SafeSlideBoard remains attached for greater safety and independence. Only one hand is needed for use instead of two.
The preliminary decision of CMS ( Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ) is to NOT establish a code for this novel invention. Without coding, those wheelchair users who most need this innovation to remain independent in their own homes and who risk falls and injury with every transfer, cannot afford it.
On May 5th, 2006, a public hearing over the coding of this product will be held in Baltimore. This petition is needed to open the eyes of CMS to the benefit of making this innovation accessable to those who need it. Your signiture and comments can help.
