Name: Anonymous on May 29, 2007Name (Only your first name if under 18): Ms V. Eves-DownComments: These safety measures are paramount to reducing the risk to our children and families of Maulden from the traffic. Under the Governments Safer Routes to School scheme etc. these safety measures are paramount and should have been installed a long time ago. We must be one of the only villages left in Bedfordshire which doesn't have even the basic safe crossing point for our children, the elderly and all Maulden villagers to enable safe access to the village facilities of the village hall, local shops, local park, school bus stops, school etc. There is overwhelming support for these road safety measures and it is paramount that our villagers safety is valued above and beyond aesthetics and personal preferences and avoidable risks reduced through such simple basic methods. Why is does this still remain absent from Maulden What is valued more than that of protecting our villagers personal safety .Flag

He is expected to cross two busy roads to get the school bus. A crossing is badly needed in Maulden. I walk my children to school and have to act as a crossing lady in order to get them to school safely!Flag

I only hope that they see sense before an accident occurs.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 15, 2007Name (Only your first name if under 18): Darren CarterComments: I agree with any measures to make our childrens journey to school safer, but this problem is more far reaching than simpily putting a zebra crossing in front of the primary school. A blanket speed limit of 20mph through the village would be a start but the speed limits must be enforced and this can only be done with a speed camera (and preferably camera's). Could we also consider speed reducing measures similar to those seen in Lilley and Letchworth Slowing traffic in front of the school just means that in the immediate vicinity of the crossing, the traffic will be accelerating (and probably violently as no one likes to wait for pedestrians !!) and that just moves the problem to the entrance to Silsoe Road, Church Road or outside the Post Office.Flag
